About Us

Michal, Jiří, Koen and Sam founded datasapiens in autumn 2014.
Before that, each of them was living on a different planet (technology, marketing, data-science and communication), while all four were already working in the retail business. They also had one other thing in common:
a lack of high-quality data-driven insights to power their decision-making.

Koen holds a Master in Marketing Communication Sciences and an Advanced Master of Science – magna cum laude – in Marketing Analysis from Ghent University.

He worked 7 years at dunnhumby in various roles including promotions, trade intelligence & shopper thoughts in the UK. Later he became the head of the solutions team for the CZ & SK market spearheading the innovation of cloud technologies, open source software development and interactive data visualizations.

Koen has extensive experience in delivering insights at board level.

Jiří has spent the majority of his professional career in leading advertising agencies.
Prior to founding his own marketing communication agency RMP, specializing in retail, he led the client service teams in Leo Burnett and Lowe in Prague.

Jiří has worked across a wide range of businesses including both FMCG clients such as Nestle, Unilever, Coca Cola, SAB Miller and financial service organisations such as GE Money, Raiffeisen bank, Kooperativa, CSOB.

Jiří has a vast experience in retail having been responsible for the marketing communications of Tesco’s business for over 12 years.

Sam is a passionate data scientist specialised in helping retailers retain and grow their valuable customers by transforming big data customer analytics into actionable insights.

After graduating with first class honours in mathematics, statistics and operational research, Sam spent seven years at dunnhumby, one of the world's leading data science companies.

He led the Tesco UK stores marketing team, then later became the solutions lead for Tesco Central Europe. There he developed customer segmentations alongside a targeted communications platform to drive customer loyalty.

Aleš is an experienced business consultant with a passion for client insights, business strategy, reporting and match-making of the right people, skills and technology.

At datasapiens Aleš is a Business lead helping clients in getting the most from what our solutions offer. He also leads the development of our partner network.

Prior to joining datasapiens Aleš spent over 15 years delivering projects and leading teams in the area of strategy, innovation, process optimisation and digitizing of company processes for ČSOB group, Johnson & Johnson and numerous clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers and IXPERTA (banking and insurance, energy, retail, IT services, manufacturing, healthcare).

Michael is a Senior Manager with over 20 years’ experience in major positions in International Retail and FMCG (over 15 years in METRO AG and REWE AG).

Michael joined datasapiens in 2018 as our Sales Partner for Germany and CEE.

Olga is a finance professional, who is passionate about insights. Strategic thinking, result-orientation and challenging the status quo helps her support the business in making better and faster decisions.

Olga joined datasapiens after ten years in finance, previously working in Retail, FMCG and Financial Audit; she has experience in supporting and providing financial insight to Sales/Commercial, Marketing and Leadership teams. Helping businesses to make timely decisions and to achieve positive change is what keeps her motivated.

Olga is a passionate argentine tango dancer and devoted president of the public speaking club.

Lucie is a loyalty and CRM specialist who is passionate about personalisation within loyalty clubs.

After graduation she joined Tesco where she held various positions in Commercial and Marketing. She worked in Clubcard since its launch in Czech, where she introduced personalised loyalty mailings. She also gained experience in Tesco UK advising Global loyalty teams and later became Personalisation manager for Central Europe.

Petr has more than 15 years’ experience in CRM, cross-selling and work with alternative distribution channels in the field of banking and Sales Finance.

Petr is passionate about CRM as it is a creative interconnection of sales and marketing.

Apart from the Czech Republic Petr worked in Norway and Russia. He helped to establish and expand business opportunities in the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Vietnam and Indonesia and worked for companies such as GE Money, Home Credit and Financial Bank Russia, and Home Credit International.

Lukáš has been enjoying data and visualizations since grammar school.
It all started with NHL players statistics and a world atlas which he received for his birthday.

In datasapiens his core activities are CRM evaluations, adhoc insights and personal data protection. Prior joining datasapiens Lukáš has over five years’ experience in retail and CRM data analysis - delivering pricing, promotional, range and availability solutions for one of the world’s leading customer science companies, dunnhumby.

He also worked for the market research agency NMS and acquired Media and PR experience with Metro Newspapers and within the European Commission’s Spokesperson’s Service.

Lukáš graduated in Sociology, majoring in applied market research.

Lucie is a data enthusiastic since Excel 95 and her first computer.

She is awarded a master's degrees in Economics and Public Health Protection. Her professional carrier started in a small research company followed by CRM data analysis and running Telco marketing campaigns in Ogilvy.

Later Lucie moved to dunnhumby where she gained experience in the Retail as a data analyst with a unique set of programming, statistics, data wrangling and visualization skills.

Full stack web developer who loves solving problems and exploring new technologies.

His IT experience started in system administration, hardware and software support. More recently he has been working as a freelancer in front end web development for companies all over the world mainly using modern JavaScript frameworks and python.
